Finding Real Power

But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power ~ Acts 1:8a (TEV)

Don't destroy yourself by getting drunk, but let the Spirit fill your life ~ Ephesians 5:18 (CEV)

*** How do you let the Spirit fill your life? ***

1. DESIRE to be filled

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you ~ Matthew 7:7 (NIV)

On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and shouted, "If you are thirsty, come to me and drink! Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you, just as the Scripture say." Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit. ~ John 7:37-39a (CEV)

2. REPENT of your sins

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all un-righteousness ~ 1 John 1:9 (NIV)

"My people have done two evils : They have turn away from me, the spring of living water. And they have dug their own wells, which are broken wells that cannot hold water ~ Jeremiah 2:13 (NCV)

3. YIELD yourself to God

If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me ~ Mark 8:34 (NASB)

Say No to selfishness, Say Yes to God

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded ~ James 4:8 (NASB)

4. TRUST God to do what he says

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit ~ Romans 15:13 (NIV)

This is the confidence we have in approaching God : that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him ~ 1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)

*** How do I know if it worked? ***

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control ~ Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)

Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So use your body for God's glory ~ 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 (TEV)
